Medano Beach is swimmable. It is a beautiful beach with views of El Arco, the Arch at the tip of the Baja Sur Peninsula.
I recommend that you stay at the Hotel Esperanza which is an upscale hotel on Medano Beach and if you don't mind a 15 minute walk, you can stroll to town or just take a taxi.
