For instance, I have AT&T Cingular and every year, when I travel to Mexico, I have to pay a fee to activate my phone to use while in Mexico. Since it's a monthly fee, upon my return, I make sure to cancel this feature. Sending postcards to those back home requires a stamp that costs about fifty cents. The exchange rate varies, but after twenty years of vacationing in Los Cabos, we find that it is generally about 10 pesos to $1 USD. If you plan to change your money into pesos, do so at a bank or at one of the money exchanges around town. Your hotel will also change your money into pesos, but generally charges a higher percentage than banks or money exchanges. 
If you run out of cash, there are ATM's located in many places in and around Cabo. Some resorts have desalinization and purification plants which transform ocean water into safe drinking water.
