Marlin Fishing Cabo San Lucas - Fishing in the Marlin Capital of the World

Marlin Fishing Cabo San Lucas - My family and I have been traveling to Cabo San Lucas yearly for over twenty years and even after all this time, I have to say that there's nothing quite as fun or exciting as marlin fishing. All true anglers dream of reeling in the big fish. The fight between man and marlin is mythic in its proportions and the dream of catching a monster-sized marlin in the coastal waters of the Baja California Sur Peninsula is more than just a possibility which is why Los Cabos is referred to as the Marlin Capital of the World.

Marlin Fishing Cabo San Lucas

Here in the sparkling waters of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean, you can catch blue, black and striped marlin. In fact these waters boast more fish than any other ocean in the world. It was Jacques Cousteau himself who dubbed this area the World's Aquarium because it is home to over 800 species of ocean vertebrates and 2000 invetebrates. In other words, it's an anglers paradise.

Marlin Fishing Cabo San Lucas - Details and Price

The name of the game here with regard to marlin is catch-and-release, although this is not so with other types of fish. In order to catch a marlin, you need a knowledgable captain and crew and a boat that is equipped with professional fishing gear. The sports fishing charters of Cabo San Lucas do not disappoint. Over the years, we've booked many Cabo San Lucas fishing charters and with the exception of one bad experience, we've always had a good day out.

Marlin Fishing Cabo San Lucas is booked as a half day or full day of fishing. For the best possible experience, we recommend booking a full day. Prices vary depending upon the size of the boat, its amenities and the kind of clientele they cater to, but for the average family of four, a full day trip will cost about $500, not including the bait, lunches and tip for the captain and crew. All in all, expect to spend $600-$650 for a full day trip.

More than just a fishing trip, be prepared to be awestruck by the scenery, the lovely coastline, the feel of tropical air against your skin and the refreshing splash of ocean spray, not to mention the wonder of jumping marlin or the lucking sighting of a frolicking grey whale or two. The experience of nature alone makes booking an all-day trip a must.

Marlin Fishing Cabo San Lucas - Go Fishing When the Getting's Good

The best times of the year to fish for black marlin is September thru December. Best times for blue marlin is August thru January (which is why October is home of famous tournament Bisbees Black and Blue and the best times to catch striped marlin is all year round!
