Lands End - The Tip of the Baja California Peninsula
Lands End ...... is the craggy finger of rock that divides the Pacific Ocean from the Sea of Cortez and is located at the southernmost tip of the Baja California Sur peninsula. At the very end of this rocky divide is The Arch (in spanish: El Arco) that is the gateway between two oceans and perhaps the most photographed landmark in Cabo San Lucas.
Just before The Arch on the Sea of Cortez side is Lover Beach, where tourists can swim ashore and spend their day on a white sand beach to be picked up by water taxi in the late afternoon. On the opposite of the peninsula (and just around Land's End) is Divorce Beach which faces the Pacific side and the raging, turbulent waters of the Pacific Ocean. Many of the large hotels along The Corridor and Medano Beach have a view of Land's End. You can photograph it from the shore or by taking a dinner cruise, a glass bottom boat tour or a fishing charter. Since the white rock Arch looks quite stunning set against the azure waters of the Sea of Cortez and the clear blue sky, you'll want to photograph it up close. (This is a shot I took from the Pacific side as we rounded the tip in a glass bottom boat.)
