Flight to San Jose Del Cabo Airport - Read Before Booking Your Flight
Getting a flight to San Jose Del Cabo airport ... is easy because many carriers fly to this vacation spot. To make your fare as affordable as possible (why not save the expense of a travel agent and spend your savings on vacation), we recommend that you book your flight online using the service we use every year - CheapCaribbean.com . When booking your fare, you'll need to know that the letters for the destination airport code are SJD. Airlines that currently offer flight to San Jose Del Cabo Airport are Aero California which offers service from Los Angeles and Phoenix, Aeromexico which offers service from San Diego, Los Angeles and Ontario, Alaska Airlines which offers service from San Diego, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and, of course, Alaska, America West which offers service from Phoenix, American Airlines which offers service from major U.S. cities like Dallas, Los Angeles and Chicago, Continental, service from Newark and Houston, Delta Airlines, service from Atlanta and Mexicana offers service from Los Angeles and Denver.
If you live in a rural area, then you'll need to fly into a major U.S. city in order to catch a flight to San Jose Del Cabo Airport which currently serves Los Cabos and Todos Santos.
Once you arrive at the airport, the first thing you'll see is a Thomas Cook Foreign Exchange booth where you can change your dollars (or other currency) into pesos. Make sure to do this because you'll need pesos to give the luggage handler a tip and to pay the taxi driver. Of course, Mexican people will happily accept U.S. dollars, but you're in Mexico—why not get into the swing of things right away and use the beautifully colored Mexican pesos.
Upon entering the airport, the first thing you'll do is stand in the customs line. This is where your documents will be checked (you'll need a passport or original birth certificate) and you will be issued a tourist card. The tourist card should be kept with your passport and should be on your person at all times. When you leave the country to return home, you must turn in your tourist card, so take proper precautions not to lose it.
Next, you'll collect your luggage. There are no luggage carts for those who prefer to haul their own, but there are plenty of sky caps who are willing to stack and haul your baggage for a tip. How much? My recommendation: tip one U.S. dollar per bag. Don't confuse this and tip one peso per bag. At an average exchange rate of one U.S. dollar to ten Mexican pesos, you'll have a very unhappy skycap.
Next, you'll approach the bag search area where there is a traffic light that randomly selects whose luggage will be searched. Just like when you're crossing the border in the other direction, you are not supposed to bring fresh fruit. If you press the button on the traffic light and the light is green, you're good to go. It's time to book your taxi or bus ride to your San Jose Del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas hotel.
One more tip when booking your flight to San Jose Del Cabo Airport: make sure to pay the $60 USD airport tax in advance by just adding it to your ticket. That way, if you run low on money at the end of your trip, you will have prepaid the airport tax, which you must pay along with turning in your tourist card in order to leave the country and go back home.
