Is Drinking Water in Mexico Safe? NEW
by: Laura Ramirez

Yes, the drinking water in Mexico is safe. Most hotels and resorts have on-site desalinization and purification systems that make the tap water in Mexico safe to drink. Keep in mind that Mexican people just have different "bugs" in their water than Americans do and when Mexicans travel to the U.S. for the first time, they get sick just like some of us do when we travel to Mexico.

If you are really worried about getting sick in Mexico from drinking the water (and if you do get sick, you will feel miserable), drink only bottled water. This means that when you go to restaurants, you must order bottled water and make sure to stay away from soda and alcoholic drinks that have ice.

It's also a good idea to bring along some Pepto Bismal and an anti-diarrhea medication just in case, but you can buy this at practically any grocery store or pharmacy in Cabo San Lucas
