The first step in planning Cabo San Lucas vacations is to decide when you're going to go and where you're going to stay. Make your flight reservations early because seats to Los Cabos fill up fast. Once you have your flight and hotel booked, consider booking a rental car. Although you can get anywhere in Cabo by taxi, the taxis are getting more and more expensive. Usually, we rent a car for the last three days of our Cabo San Lucas vacation. That way, we can go look at real estate or take day trips to places like Todos Santos, La Paz or San Jose del Cabo.

When going on a Cabo San Lucas vacation, I like to book the most important aspects of our trip ahead of time, for instance, getting the car rental. This way, I avoid any misunderstandings due to the language barrier and I deal with American companies, so I know exactly what I'm getting and whom to call if something goes wrong or if I didn't get what I paid for. This is a strategy that has worked well for me during the twenty-some years my family and I have been vacationing in Los Cabos.
