Cabo San Lucas Beach Review Guide
Cabo San Lucas Beach - Los Cabos is for lovers of sand and surf. With close to sixty miles of sand, there's a lot to choose from. No matter what you're into, our guide will highlight the best beaches for surfing, diving, walking, beach volleyball, water sports or for enjoying a sunset stroll, a run at daybreak or teaching the kids to build sand castles or swim in the surf. Below is a description of each Cabo San Lucas beach. Where you see links, follow them to a page with more detailed information.

Before you read our reviews, take note of these important points:
- There are no lifeguards, so children and those who are not strong swimmers need constant supervision. Use the buddy system when swimming in the ocean. Don't drink alcohol and then go swimming.
- Many a Cabo San Lucas beach is designated as non-swimming due to big waves and strong undertow. This is particularly true on the Pacific Ocean side. Although this is a general guideline, pay attention to any signs.
- If you plan to find remote beaches by driving up and down the coastline, never drive and park on the beach. First of all, it isn't permitted. Second, on some beaches, the sand is soft which means you could get stuck. Always find a place to park and walk.
- Unless you're staying at a hotel on the beach and can go back to your room when you need something, come prepared. Bring plenty of water, food, sun umbrella, sunglasses, sunscreen, towels, etc.
- Clean up after yourself. Mexican people are environmentally conscious, as evidenced by the city-wide fishing policy of catch and release. Do your part to help paradise remain the way you found it.
- If you are traveling with kids, be sure to read my recommendations about what to bring on the trip in order to make traveling more enjoyable. Also check out my suggestions for fun beach gear.
Medano Beach is a great beach for families. Photo by Laura Ramirez.
Medano Beach - the most popular beach in Cabo. Fun for families and couples alike, you'll find this beach hopping with activity. Great for running and safe for swimming. Dine at one of the many hotel restaurants, go shopping on the beach, rent water sports equipment or sun bathe or build sand castles on the shore. A fun beach that truly offers something for everyone. There are many hotels to stay at on this Cabo San Lucas beach. Solmar Beach - borders the Pacific Ocean which has rough waters and a strong undertow. Swimming is not recommended, although surfers may appreciate the waves. Still, we recommend you enjoy the water from the shore. A great beach if you want to go for a daybreak or sunset stroll. Four beautiful hotels line this beach.
Lighthouse Beach - (known in spanish as Playa El Faro Viejo) is, as its name suggests, the point where the original lighthouse was located. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint, the old lighthouse was replaced by a mechanical version years ago.
Although friends of ours have gone on a guided ATV tour with their children in the past, we've heard that this is no longer allowed.
Cabo San Lucas Lover Beach and Divorce Beach - On the Sea of Cortez side is Lover's Beach where the water is clear and the surf is gentle. A short walk away, but on the Pacific side of the Baja tip is Divorce Beach where the waters are rough and dangerous. As you can imagine, the locals love to make jokes about this. Both beaches are located at Land's End. You'll need a water taxi or water sports rental to get you there. Click on the links to read a more detailed description of each Cabo San Lucas beach.
